Keith Walker, trumpet
Aveteran teacher of 31 years and a trumpet player for nearly 50, Keith Walker has performed throughout the midwestern US, as well as making his European performance debut in 2018. As a performer or conductor, Keith has over 60 musical theater performances to his credit in addition to jazz, orchestra, solo, and chamber music. He holds Bachelor of Music (Education and Performance) and a Master of Arts degrees (Educational Leadership) from Western Michigan University.
He won the Kalamazoo Bach Festival competition while at WMU, and has performed with Hope Summer Repertory Theater, Western Michigan University Theater, Hope College Theater, the West Michigan Symphony, Holland Symphony Orchestra, and the Holland Concert Jazz Orchestra. Based in Holland, Michigan, Keith studied trumpet under Dr. Stephen Jones at WMU. Further studies with Bobby Shew, Rich Illman, Dan Duncan, Charley Lea, and Dr. Nathan Warner have enabled him to enlarge his toolbox and vary his approach to playing and performing.
