    Patricia Stiles, mezzo-soprano

    Mezzo-soprano Patricia Stiles has taught voice at Indiana University since 1998. Her students have been and are singing successfully throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and South America and they have been winners of numerous competitions including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Other students are teaching at Kansas State University, Central Michigan University, Portland State University, Fach Hochschule Osnabrück and at other institutions of higher learning.

    Professor Stiles has had a successful 20-year international singing career, performing over seventy operatic roles including Carmen, Dalila, Eboli, Octavian, Orpheus, Ortrud, Erda, Rosina, Dorabella, and Cherubino with international opera houses including the National Theater (Munich), Semperoper (Dresden), Leipzig Opera, Duesseldorf Opera, and Washington Opera (Kennedy Center). She has given many recitals and appeared as a soloist with several European orchestras.

    Being bilingual, Professor Stiles teaches fluently in both English and German and has presented master classes in Germany, Austria, Italy, Mexico, Russia, and the United States. She taught voice during most of her twenty years living in Germany. She has recordings with IUMusic, and Cavalli Records, etc. Professor Stiles has also coordinated and stage directed a Summer Opera Workshop at Indiana University for the last eleven years.
