Seyoung Jeong, voice
Soprano Seyoung Jeong is on the voice faculty of University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Outside of the school, she is the artistic director of Gigli International Opera and choir director at Virginia Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, VA. Previously, she was the principal opera and vocal coach at the Catholic University of America, an opera coach at George Mason University, and assistant professor at NVCC.
She has performed the role of Mimi in La Boheme by Puccini with Villa in Canto Op-era in Recanati, Italy, Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart with New York Lyric Opera and Eastman Opera, and Angelica in Suor Angelica by Puccini with Bel Cantanti Opera and Eastman Opera. She has also appeared as soloist in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Greater Washington, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Fingerlakes Choral Festival, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade toMusicwith the Loudoun Symphony, Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ with the Floris UMC Choir, Mozart’s the Coronation Mass with LISMS Washington, Beethoven’s C major Mass and Schumann’s Requiem for Mignon with Eastman-Rochester Chorus, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Brahms’ Requiem with Eastman Summer Sing, Vivaldi’s Gloria with Ewha Womans University Chorus, and Handel’s Messiah with Glory Presbyterian Church Choir in Korea. She has also given numerous solo and chamber recitals in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Dr. Jeong earned her Master degree in voice performance and literature from Eastman School of Music. Before attending Eastman, she completed her Doctoral degree in piano performance from WVU, a Master degree from Duquesne University, and another MM and a BM from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea.
