Simone Telandro, trumpet
Graduated from the Novara Conservatory in 2002 he obtained a degree in History of Music in 2004 from the University of Turin under the guidance of Paolo Gallarati with a score of 110/110 with honours. With the same grade, in 2007 he obtained a second level specialist degree in trumpet in the class of Gabriele Cassone, at the Conservatory “G. Cantelli” of Novara. At the same Conservatory he obtained his teaching qualification. In July 2016 he obtained the Master of Advanced Studies in Contemporary Music Performance at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano with a grade of 6/6 A Excellent with honors. In 2007 he attended the International Trumpet Seminar organized by the Center for Advanced Musical Studies at Chosen Vale (USA) with professors E. Carroll, T. Stevens, M. Stockhausen, S. Burns, M. Gould and G. Cassone. He was awarded at the National Wind Competition Nuovi Orizzonti 2006 in Arezzo and has participated at the international trumpet competitions in Brussels and Porcia. To the orchestral activity with the modern instrument (Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, Milano Classica Orchestra, Teatro Coccia di Novara Orchestra, Valle d'Aosta Symphony Orchestra, UECO Orchestra) is added the professional activity with the natural trumpet (La Verdi Barocca, Teatro Armonico Ensemble , Venice Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Pian & Forte, Academia Montis Regalis, Antiqua Ensemble, Gabriele Cassone Trumpet Ensemble, Vadstena Academy (Swe), Ensemble de la Chapelle Saint Marc (Lux).He has played in prestigious events such as: Festival Mito, Festival B. Galuppi in Venice, Settimane Musicali Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Festival Musicale Estense in Ferrara, Ansbach Bachwoche (GER), Confluences 2011 in Turin, Ferienkurse fur Neue Musik Darmstadt (GER), Impuls Graz (AUT), The Exploratory 2023 by Fondazione Cini in Venice, O Flos Colendae Florence, Settimane Musicali di Stresa 2015, Rondò Concerti (from 2014 to today), Festival Aperto Reggio Emilia, Lugano Modern. He played in live radio broadcasts for Vatican Radio, RAI Radio 3, Sveriges Radio and Bayerischer Rundfunk. Since 2010 he has specialized in contemporary repertoire with the professor Gabriele Cassone and through seminars with Edward Carroll, Markus Stockhausen and William Forman. In this context he performed a lot of premieres both as an orchestral member and in an ensemble. He participated as a soloist in the days dedicated to the composers Sofia Guibaidulina and Violeta Dinescu at the “Cantelli” Conservatory of Novara. With the Divertimento Ensemble, with which he regularly collaborates, he performed the first Italian performances of the piece Lituus (for brass quartet and live electronics) by the Spanish composer Josè Manuel Lopez Lopez and of Jay by Franco Donatoni (for piano and seven brass instruments). With the same formation he has made numerous recordings including the CDs dedicated to the composers Zeno Baldi, Giovanni Bertelli, Francesco Ciurlo and Emanuele Ghisi: of the latter composer he also performed as a soloist, in March 2022, the world premiere of the piece Fathers for 2 trumpets , ensemble and electronics. In 2020 he took part in Human Dramaturgies by Gabriele Marangoni and Micol Riva, considered by Artribune among the 4 most important artistic projects at national level carried out in times of pandemic. In 2021 he performed as a soloist at the Contemporanea Monferrato Concerts in the monographic evening dedicated to Karlheinz Stockhausen. From 2014 to 2016 he collaborates with the Ensemble 900 of Lugano, from 2019 with the Ensemble Secret Theater and from 2023 with the Fragmente Ensemble and with the free improvisation collective Burning Giraffe. He wrote for 4 years for the magazine “I Fiati” in which he published interviews, reviews and historical musical articles. Always committed to the forefront in the diffusion of trumpet culture, he organizes masterclasses, training courses and festivals with internationally renowned artists. He is Artistic Director of the cultural platform +FiatoAlleTrombe and in 2019 he was a Faculty member of the of the Italian Trumpet Seminar (together with the trumpeters of the OSN Rai - Ercole Ceretta, Daniele Greco d'Alceo and Roberto Rossi - the jazz soloist Fabrizio Bosso and the trumpeter of the Klangforum Wien, Anders Nyqvist) at the Fossano Musica Foundation. He was a trumpet teacher at the Liceo Musicale Casorati in Novara from 2010 to 2014 and from 2014 to 2018 at the G. Bella middle school in Acqui Terme, where he held the position of coordinator of the instrumental courses over the years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. In each institute in which he served he organized various types of events, such as the two editions of Connessioni, (performances of contemporary art and music at the Liceo Casorati in Novara) or the training courses for music and musical instrument teachers at the IC1 Saracco Bella in Acqui Terme, with important teachers and professionals from the world of music pedagogy. He is currently a trumpet teacher and wind band director at the Liceo Musicale Umberto Eco in Alessandria.
