
Patti Adams, flute
Patti Adams is the assistant principal flutist and solo piccolo with the Grammy award-winning Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans, LA and has been on the faculty of Loyola University's College of Music since 1997. She has performed with numerous other orchestras including the National Repertory Orchestra, the Colorado Music Festival and recorded and toured internationally with the Mexico City Philharmonic as co-principal flute. Among her many other solo and chamber music opportunities she has enjoyed both locally and nationally, Patti has performed on tour with the John Philip Sousa Band and the national Broadway touring company of Phantom of the Opera.
She has appeared as guest artist at numerous flute festivals around the country including Chicago, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Baton Rouge and Raleigh, NC and has presented masterclasses at LSU, Rice, University of Michigan and Ohio State University, among others. Her teachers have included Julius Baker, Maxence Larrieu, Sam Baron and William Bennett and counts them all as major influences in her musical life.
Patti has performed and presented at many National Flute Association conventions and has served the NFA in a variety of roles including President, member of the Board of Directors and was Program Chair for the NFA's 25th anniversary convention in Chicago. She taught piccolo masterclasses at the 2017 Wildacres Flute Retreat, was the featured cover story of the February 2004 Flute Talk magazine and was honored to be the recipient of the NFA's 2014 Distinguished Service Award.
In her parallel artistic life, Patti is an award-winning painter in oils and watercolor and was owner and art director of the Garden District Gallery in New Orleans from 2009-2015. She received her training at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art where she now teaches classes in Calligraphy, Watercolor and Color & Design. Patti has participated in numerous citywide art exhibitions and has designed and produced many commissions for individuals and organizations, both locally and nationally. In 2010, she created the scenic artwork used in the opera’s production of The Magic Flute, her favorite opera and instrument!
