Snow Wilson, piano
A deeply committed educator, Wilson’s unique pedagogical skills make her in high demand in the New York City area. As with her in-person teaching, she is highly skilled in remote instruction, with students across the United States and abroad, including students in Florida, Washington, and Hong Kong. Wilson's individualized approach to piano teaching reflects the richness of her musical experience. Trained in the Kodaly, Orff–Schulwerk, and Suzuki methods, as well as classical piano pedagogy, Wilson's teaching is also informed by her diverse musical and intellectual background. In addition to a Master of Music Education degree (University of North Texas) with emphasis on piano pedagogy, and studies in Alexander Technique (Julliard), Wilson has a second Master of Computer Education degree, with emphasis on cognitive systems (University of North Texas); she has designed several computer education games for teaching children music.
Attaining a high level of excellence, her students have won various piano competitions, including the Steinway Piano Competition, American Fine Arts Festival (AFAF) Competition, VIVO International Competition, Piano Teachers Congress of New York Competition, Prima Volta Music Competition, and Mannes School of Music Concerto Competition. Many of her students have performed in prestigious New York City venues, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, Rose Hall at Lincoln Center; and at area events, including the Princeton Festival and TED Conferences.
An active clinician, Wilson gives workshops in New York City and its surrounding vicinity, including presentations at New York's Piano Teachers Congress and Connecticut College. Her international teaching experience includes serving on the faculty of InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy, where she also gives masterclasses, and private instruction and masterclasses in Taipei, Taiwan.
Wilson is a certified Steinway Educational Partner and a Founding Teacher of the Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program. Wilson is currently Second Vice-President and Treasurer on the Executive Board of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York (PTC) and chair of the Young Artist Recital + Masterclass Audition Program for the PTC organization. Currently, Wilson teaches at Connecticut College and The New School's Mannes College of Music Preparatory Division.
