Svetlana Filippova, violin/piano
Acclaimed by Victor Pikaizen as a"remarkable musician and excellent pedagogue," Ms. Filippova was born in Moscow, received her training in Russia. Her background derives from the rich traditions of the Russian violin school. These noble traditions encompasses technical perfection, beautiful tone and passionate music making. Ms. Filippova began her violin studies at age of four with G. Michailov - pupil of legendary A. Yampolsky, she has received numerous academic and violin performance awards during her Music School, College and University years.
At seventeen she started her orchestral career under renowned Russian conductor Fuat Mansurov. She has appeared in several symphony and chamber music festivals including "Moscow stars," "Kiev Autumn," "Blooming Bagulnik", as a leading violin has been invited to appear on Cuban Ballet festival with the great Cuban dancer Alicia Alonso , has received certificates of appreciation. Active as a member of Russian Academy of Music Chamber orchestra has performed extensively throughout the former USSR, Eastern Europe, Cuba, Central America, Florida under remarkable conductors A. Melik- Pashayev, Algis Zhuraitis, Fuat Mansurov, Freder Meschievitz, Tadashi Mori, H. Lopez. After her immigration to Canada in 1990 she has given many recitals, including solo and chamber music,also devoted much time to pedagogy .She is keen on integrating the educating aspect of music in her playing as well as in her teaching. Her students have participated many National and International festivals.
