Thomas Osuga, piano
An internationally acclaimed solo and chamber artist, pianist, Thomas Osuga continues to garner accolades for everything from his "legendary sight-reading abilities" to his "prodigious talent." As founder and artistic director of Aurista Chamber Music, he has distinguished himself in residencies at New York University, American Museum of Natural History, Puffin Foundation (Teaneck, NJ), Youngstown State University in Ohio, and the Interactive Media Performing Arts Collaborative Technology (IMPACT). Having received appointments as Piano Preparatory Co-Chair for Mannes College The New School for Music, he is also on the faculty of InterHarmony International Music Festival at Arcidosso II and Sulzbach-Rosenberg. He was recently appointed as managing artistic director for Alexander and Buono International Festivals of Music and Master Class Series and is a core faculty member of Teen Pianophoria! held at Hunter College in New York City. An enthusiastic advocate of new music, Mr. Osuga is known for collaborations with composers from around the world, among them Eleanor Cory, Youngmi Ha, Steven Sacco, Miyuki Ito, David Loeb, Alejandro Escuer and Robert Rollins, who dedicated "Intermezzo," based on Czech/Terezin composer Victor Ullmann's opera Emperor of Atlantis, to him. Thomas, in addition to curatorial duties for recognized concert series, was recently appointed music director of Trattoria Machiavelli in Manhattan where he presents over one thousand high caliber classical and jazz concerts each year to adoring fans on the upper west side on a daily/nightly basis. He is also in demand as adjudicator for many respected music festivals and competitions. His students are consistent competition winners both locally and internationally. He is also happily married and father of two lovely daughters!
